If I refuse to accept the horror (of myself, of my life, even of life in the strict material sense), I will not look beyond.
Once I look beyond, I see the Beyond, and realise the horror obtains only on the assumption there is no Beyond.
The Beyond is sensational, and the this is a necessary component of it, including all of its sufferings.
Watching Macbeth is horrific unless you realise it is a play. Then it becomes fascinating. The suffering stops.
