When I rock-bottomed and entered AA, I left this world. I was sent back (and believe this to be the case for many people in recovery) to stay awake and help others wake up, too. I still have a material life, but the material life is just the worked example. I'm not here for it. It's here for me to do my real work here. This is why it, in itself, does not matter. If it goes 'well', it contains lessons. If it goes 'badly', it contains lessons. It's the lessons that count.
