As evolution proceeds from level to level—mineral, vegetable, animal, human, mystic—the previous level is not left behind; rather, it is incorporated. Spiritual growth should not therefore lead to alienation from lower levels but compassion and understanding for lower levels. A mystic contains within her or him all previous levels; there is simply a higher level from which the individual is operating.
