Identify, don't compare

In the heyday of doommongers, the fear is predicated invariably on conflict, and conflict, on difference. Actually, the differences are often relatively minor but are what attract the attention. Always and ever, therefore, look for the similarities not the differences. Look for such similarities in particular in those against whom you feel hostility, disdain, or indifference, and the apparent differences invariably start to melt away into obscurity. Any remaining condemnation will typically stem from observation of poor thinking or behaviour, originating in turn in ignorance and fear, both qualities that no one is entirely free of. At the end of the day, we really are one.
