“to have renounced all preconceived opinions in the wholehearted search for God” (Around the Year with Emmet Fox)
Opinions about what? States of affairs.
What is a preconceived opinion?
One that is conceived before (‘pre’) something.
Conceived before what?
Conceived before all the facts are known.
And here’s the catch: the facts are never known.
Why? Because not all the facts are knowable:
New facts are always in the process of occurring.
Good or bad? Depends on the facts.
So often I’ve made changes based on facts …
… that were not facts.
… or were facts but only some of the facts.
Instead: seek God not outcomes.
Seek God, and outcomes seek themselves out.
